    • Thompson, who played eight games for...

Thompson, who played eight games for the Cowboys this season before spending five more with the Bills (he missed the finale with a toe injury), will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Analysis: Thompson, while still speedy, is primarily a depth receiver at this stage of his career and caught only 17 balls for 161 yards and no touchdowns last season. The Bills like him enough that they've had him for three different stints, but he'll be 30 next month and may be phased out as the team continues to rework the position group. At best, he'll end up as a No. 4-5-6 receiver in 2019.

    • Charlton finished the regular season with...

Charlton finished the regular season with 27 tackles, including only one sack, in 11 games.

Analysis: While the second-year defensive end got a chance to start to begin the season, he quickly slipped into a rotational role, and Charlton's second half was sunk by a Week 9 shoulder injury that limited him to only four total snaps over the next six games. Heading into his third NFL campaign, the 28th overall pick in the 2017 draft has yet to establish himself, but improved health could allow him to make some kind of impact in the Cowboys' pass rush behind DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory.

    • Gregory finished the regular season with...

Gregory finished the regular season with 25 tackles and six sacks in 14 games.

Analysis: The 26-year-old may be on his last chance in Dallas after multiple suspensions to begin his career, including one that cost him all of 2017, but Gregory appears to be serious about making the most of it. The tackles and sacks were career highs -- he had only one sack in 14 games coming into the year -- and he really came on in the second half, racking up five of his sacks in the final eight games while flashing his speed and length. The 2015 second-round pick still has one more season remaining on his rookie contract, so if he stays off the radar of the commissioner's office, Gregory could be poised for a breakout 2019.

    • Crawford finished the regular season with...

Crawford finished the regular season with 34 tackles, five sacks, two passes defended and a forced fumble.

Analysis: The sacks tied his career high while the tackles fell one short of his previous best. The 29-year-old Crawford is one of the more senior members of a young Cowboys defense, and while he'll never be an IDP asset, he figures to remain a steadying presence up front in Dallas if he doesn't find himself a cap casualty in the offseason.

    • Woods finished the regular season with...

Woods finished the regular season with a career-high 56 tackles and two interceptions on nine passes defended.

Analysis: After missing the first two games of the season due to a hamstring injury, the second-year safety settled into a starting role next to Jeff Heath and mostly held his own. The position is one the Cowboys could be looking to upgrade in the offseason, so Woods isn't guaranteed to return as a starter in 2019, but he's shown he can be a solid cog in an up-and-coming young defense.
